About Jeff
A Lifelong Commitment to Fitness — And to You
Physical fitness has been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the 1970s, I was the kid shooting hoops, playing baseball and soccer and at just ten years old, I started lifting weights with a secondhand bench and sand-filled barbells in the garage. I didn’t know much about exercise science back then, but I quickly discovered a simple truth: I felt better — stronger, more confident, and more alive — every time I moved my body.
That truth has stayed with me for decades. Through the running boom of the ’80s (yes, I ran the San Francisco Marathon in 1985), to countless hours spent biking, hiking, lifting, jumping rope, and practicing yoga, I’ve found that staying active is the best way I know to ensure a good day — at any age.
After retiring from a 30-year career teaching high school in Berkeley and Oakland, I became a certified personal trainer through ACE Fitness in early 2023. A year later, I added a Senior Fitness certification, because I genuinely love working with older adults — helping people move better, feel better, and regain confidence in their bodies.
Whether you're easing back into fitness, recovering from an injury, or feeling overwhelmed by all the options out there, I’m here to make things approachable, tailored, and effective. My goal is to guide you through the noise, meet you where you are, and help you build a sustainable path toward strength, vitality, and well-being.
I do this work because it’s deeply rewarding — and because I know, from experience, that it’s never too late to feel strong, energized, and fully engaged in your life.
